This rod is 12” long and with the handle the whole sharpener is 17” long. Use ceramic sharpeners like this to hone the final edge on a slicing knife. The ceramic finish will restore a moderately dull edge but won’t bring back a completely dull edge. Ceramics are for the final polish of an edge and the quick touch ups between sharpenings.
